Celebrating the life of

Algis J. Skoudas

Passed away on October 23, 2023

Algis J. Skoudas

Algis J. Skoudas died suddenly and unexpectedly on October 23, 2023 at the age of 78.  A service will be held at St. Mary’s Church in Dekalb, Illinois, his home of many years, although Georgia has been his home recently.  The Mass will be 10:00 a.m. on November 7, 2023.

Algis was born in Germany during WWII.  He spent his first early years there with his family after they had fled their home in Lithuania.

Algis (Al) was known for his loyalty to old friends, as well as for his welcome of new friends throughout his life.  Among his best friends is Labrador Retriever, Julie, who was a companion for 17 years.

Besides playing practically any sport, he was a volunteer coach.  He displayed a real understanding of youngsters as they learned and developed new skills.

Al worked thirty years at NIU in Dekalb, IL, primarily in the painting department. Then he worked almost twenty-five years in Logistics at Target in nearby Rockford, Illinois and in Savannah, Georgia, his recent home.  He had pride and respect for his co-workers, and for the places he worked.  This showed in the team contributions he made.

Through his years, Al demonstrated the same strength and perseverance, and openness of spirit he had shown from the very beginning of his life.

Al is survived by his wife, Kathy Key-Skoudas.  He was predeceased by parents, Justin and Angele Skoudas, and his sister, Audry.

Finch Funeral Home in Dekalb, Illinois will be assisting the family with the service and burial.
